U.S. Citizens may apply for Legal Permanent Residence (Green Cards) on behalf of their Immediate Relatives: Spouses, Parents, and/or Children under the age of 21. There is no annual cap placed on the number of immigrant visas available to the Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens.
U. S. Citizens may apply for Legal Permanent Residence (Green Cards) on behalf of their married or unmarried children over the age of 21, however there is an annual cap and consequently a waiting list for immigrant visas in this category. The spouses and children of beneficiaries in this category will be afforded the same immigrant status as the beneficiary.
U.S. Citizens may apply for Legal Permanent Resident Status (Green Cards) on behalf of their brothers and sisters. There is an annual cap in this category that is highly over-subscribed and the process can take many years before a Green Card becomes available in this category.
Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) may apply for Legal Permanent Residence (Green Cards) on behalf of their spouses and unmarried children under and over the age of 21. There is an annual cap for these categories and consequently there is a waiting list of several years before a Green Card becomes available.
